It takes approximately fifteen years for a new variety of potatoes to reach our tables. This is why Groupe Propur carefully selects the seed categories offered to potato growers. Diversified within many categories, seed potatoes have to meet rigorous quality criterions.

As its name states, the seed potato is essentially intended for planting. In order to offer the complete cycle of potato growing, and to guarantee its excellence, Propur works in collaboration with Semences Saguenoise Inc. and Semences Élite du Québec. These two enterprises are specialized in the production of basic seeds from fast in vitro plants multiplication methods.

Located in Petit Saguenay and on the North Shore, these organizations are isolated from the commercial potato growing centres and this represents an insurance against viruses and diseases.

Each lot meet the requirements of the Québec certification program. Post-cropping controls on all sold seeds are carried out in accordance with the Québec certification program. For the last years the controls for the PVY viruses (mosaic viruses) and PLRV (leaf roll viruses) have shown maximum rates of between 0 and 0.5%. This reflects the high quality of Groupe Propur seeds.
